On my desk sits a large postcard, the cover an image of candles and a fireplace. The image is warm and inviting, cozy and serene.
The cover text introduces the reader to a property management company, Chestnut and Cape. Evocative, those two words.
A well-conceived and executed piece of marketing and branding. But wait, is that a grammatical error? It is! Where the possessive is needed, the plural is used--families instead of family's.
Who's to blame? Printer? Copywriter? Proofreader? Doesn't matter - the damage is done. Their content--with its heavy emphasis on trust, care and details--is undone, contradicted by their lack of attention to a detail drilled into all of us since childhood.
Oops. Or is that oop's?
