So this is what personal responsibility and straight talk in popular culture have come to--Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees superstar and admitted steroid/banned substance user (for those less baseball-centric readers, background link here), assembles what one would assume is the best public relations thinktank that 100 million can rent, and this is what they come up with:
Question (paraphrase): Would you consider yourself a cheater?
Rodriguez (paraphrase): That's not for me to decide...it goes back to that I wish I'd gone to college...
Immediately after reading this, I couldn't help joking to my wife that the next time she asks me whether I've cleaned the bathroom, I'm going to tell her "really, it goes back to the fact that I never got my masters in English." His answer was that ludicrous and yet, how many of us have heard something similarly specious from a customer service provider?
