The good people over at Byggmeister Associates, building science geeks one and all, are at the leading edge of residential net-zero energy retrofits.

Photos and text can be seen on their website http://www.byggmeister.com/services_energy.shtml

As an impoverished custodian of a circa 1860s Italianate Victorian that has 11 exterior walls(!) which was last insulated in the 1970s, I can only view their work with unmitigated envy and lust.

We look forward to the day when we can retrofit our abode with their expert guidance.

It would be quite interesting to think of the cost of Deep Energy Retrofits in terms of painting days completed. You seem to have a one million paint day retrofit.
