A trip through the mid-Atlantic to visit some On Target friends/house painters reminded me again just why I adore my Prius.  The energy consumption display so overtly condemns fast and erratic driving that intentionality becomes the norm.

Thus, planning means leaving on time--not late in a misbegotten reliance on speed to make up for incompetent time management.  Indeed, patiently holding my speed to 55 lets me appreciate the jackrabbit behaviour of other drivers and helps me arrive relaxed, not frazzled.

The same energy usage displays used in the home encourage more cautious use of energy-intensive applications and heating/cooling systems.  As we embrace a smarter electric grid, where consumption can be more effectively managed, conservation will be more justly rewarded.
